The 2022 Nissan Sentra has 3 recalls, the most serious being a structural sealing defect where water leaks into the cowl area below the windshield, corrodes wiring, and can cause a fire or disable critical systems including airbags, wipers, exterior lighting, and the ability to shift gears.
The same water intrusion can short-circuit the main body wiring harness, which means the electrical failures described above can also develop into an active fire risk rather than just a slow corrosion problem. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why two separate campaigns address the same underlying cowl sealing defect. On the steering side, the left or right tie rod can bend and then break entirely, leaving the driver with no steering control.
