What can fail

The ignition key can be accidentally struck by the driver's knee, causing it to turn off the engine while driving.

Dealers will replace the key blade and housing with a revised design that prevents accidental knee contact.

The ignition key can be bumped by the driver's knee, moving it out of the run position. This cuts engine power, power steering, and power braking, making steering and braking harder and increasing stopping distance. It may also prevent airbags from deploying in a crash.

Dealers will replace the key blade with a revised one positioned at a 90-degree angle to prevent accidental bumping out of the run position.

What can fail

When the front passenger seat is pushed all the way forward, a sensor may cause a delay between the two stages of the passenger airbag. This could prevent the airbag from deploying properly during a crash.

Dealers will reprogram the Sensing and Diagnostic Module to correct the sensor timing.

What can fail

When the front passenger seat is positioned all the way forward, the seat sensor causes a 30-millisecond delay between the first and second stages of the dual-stage passenger airbag during a frontal crash, increasing head injury risk.

What the fix does

Dealers will reprogram the sensing and diagnostic module at no cost to correct the airbag deployment timing.
