1997 Pontiac Transport

The 1997 Pontiac Transport has 4 recalls, the most serious involving brake system vulnerabilities: ice buildup can pull rear brake pipes away from the underbody, and on vehicles with traction control, the windshield wiper linkage can contact a brake line and cause fluid to leak, reducing braking effectiveness.

There are also two concerns related to the power sliding door. The door can close without fully latching and then swing open while the vehicle is moving, particularly on hills, turns, or rough roads, which could cause an unrestrained passenger to fall out. Separately from that structural issue, a passenger who grabs the interior door handle while the motor is pulling the door open may have their arm forced against the seat back or armrest, which can result in a wrist or lower arm injury. This second issue only affects vehicles with second-row bucket seats or captain's chairs on the passenger side.
