What can fail
The heatshield above the catalytic converter may be inadequate. If the engine misfires, the catalytic converter can overheat and ignite nearby materials, including transmission fluid lines, causing an underbody fire.
What the fix does
Replace the heatshield with a larger improved one. Install a heat-resistant sleeve on transmission fluid lines. Replace plastic mounting brackets near the converter with metal brackets.
