The 2013 Scion xB has 2 recalls, both addressing the same serious issue: a front passenger airbag inflator that can explode and send sharp metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
These recalls apply to vehicles sold or registered in high-humidity states and territories, including Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Moisture exposure over time can cause the inflator to rupture with far more force than intended, turning airbag hardware into shrapnel during a deployment.
