The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime has two recalls, both involving display failures that can reduce the information available to the driver while the vehicle is in motion.
The first affects vehicles equipped with the Panoramic View Monitor: a software error can cause the rearview camera to freeze or show a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse, leaving the driver without a view of what is directly behind them. The second involves the instrument panel display, which can fail to show critical driving information, such as speed or warning indicators, while the vehicle is in use. Both issues stem from software behavior rather than mechanical failures, and each reduces the driver's situational awareness in ways that can contribute to a crash.
