2004 TOYOTA RAV4 Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2004 Toyota RAV4 has two recalls, both concerning the same defect: the driver's frontal airbag inflator can absorb moisture over time and rupture during deployment, sending metal fragments into the cabin and raising the risk of serious injury. The inflator in the dual-stage driver airbag is not adequately sealed against moisture, and as that moisture builds up over the years, it can cause the inflator to burst rather than inflate normally when the airbag is triggered in a crash.
