The 2010 Toyota RAV4 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving rear suspension tie rods that can fail and cause a sudden loss of steering control, along with a power window switch that can overheat and melt if moisture and debris get inside it.
The seat heater recall applies only to vehicles equipped with certain aftermarket seat heaters: the copper heating element can short circuit and start a fire. On the restraint side, the rear outboard seatbelts can be cut by the seat cushion frame in a frontal crash, leaving rear passengers without proper protection. There is also a wiper concern: water dripping onto the linkage joint that connects the wiper arm to the motor can cause corrosion over time, eventually causing the linkage to separate and the wipers to stop working.
