The 2023 Toyota Tacoma has 5 recalls, the most serious being an axle shaft that can separate from the axle housing, causing sudden loss of vehicle stability and reduced braking that raises the risk of a crash.
Two recalls cover the driver's airbag clockspring, the component that keeps the airbag circuit connected through steering wheel rotation. A wiring fault can deactivate the driver's airbag so it does not deploy in a crash, and a prior repair attempt for this issue did not fully resolve the problem for some vehicles. There is also a child seat anchor concern: one or more welds on the upper anchor points may be insufficient, which can allow a child seat to shift or pull free during a hard stop or crash. On a smaller number of trucks, the tire and loading information label may display incorrect data, which can lead to improper tire inflation, wrong tire or rim selection, or overloading, any of which can cause poor handling or a tire failure.
