The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan has 5 recalls, the most serious being a rear tie rod bolt that may not have been properly tightened, which can loosen over time and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The front passenger airbag is the subject of another notable concern: a wiring fault in the passenger occupant detection system can cause the airbag to switch off even when someone is sitting in the seat. If this happens, the instrument panel will show an error message and a warning chime will sound, but the airbag will not deploy in a crash, leaving the front passenger without that protection. There is also a visibility issue where a software error in the camera control unit can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing at startup, reducing what the driver can see behind the vehicle when reversing.
