The 2025 Volvo EX90 has 5 recalls, the most serious being a power tailgate that can drop suddenly and strike a person standing behind the vehicle.
The tailgate issue stems from two separate problems: a spindle nut in the power tailgate drive unit can detach, and separately, the liftgate struts themselves may not hold their position, either of which can send the gate swinging down without warning. On the seating side, bolts securing the second-row free-standing seat may not be properly tightened, which means the seat could shift in a crash and fail to properly restrain the occupant. Two recalls cover headlight failure: a software fault in the low power controller can cause the headlight shutters to close over both the high and low beams while driving, and a broader software problem can cut headlights entirely, both leaving the driver without forward lighting at night.
