The 2023 Volvo S60 has 6 recalls, the most serious being a software error in the engine control module that can prevent the combustion engine from starting and cause the vehicle to lose drive power as the battery depletes.
On the braking side, a diagnostic error in the brake control module can disable anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control all at once, leaving the driver with reduced braking support. The front passenger airbag may also not be properly secured, which can cause it to deploy incorrectly in a crash and raise the risk of injury. The rearview camera can fail to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, removing the driver's view of what is directly behind the car. There is also an electrical issue where a false warning message reading "e-Call Service Required" can appear on the dashboard, masking a real failure of the emergency call system and potentially delaying emergency response after a crash.
