The 2010 Volvo S80 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the front seatbelts and the driver's airbag, both of which can fail to protect occupants in a crash.
The front seatbelt pretensioner can fail to secure the occupant, raising the risk of injury in a collision. Separately, an intermittent fault in the driver's airbag clockspring wiring connector can disable the supplemental restraint system, typically signaled by a permanently lit airbag warning light on the dashboard. On the electrical side, a software fault in the central electronic module can prevent it from sending the signal needed to start the fuel pump, which can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly. There is also a compliance issue with the tire labeling: the tire and loading information label and owner's manual contain incorrect maximum inflation pressure figures, and the tire pressure monitoring system uses an incorrect trigger level, meaning low-pressure warnings may not fire at the right threshold.
