The 2012 Volvo S80 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the front seatbelts and airbag system: a wire harness under the front seats can pull loose when the seat is adjusted, causing airbags to deploy incorrectly or not at all in a crash, and leaving the seatbelt pretensioner unable to tighten.
A separate seatbelt recall covers the front restraint system as well, where a component may not secure the occupant properly, raising injury risk in a crash. On the drivetrain side, a software error in the transmission control module can prevent the gearbox from downshifting when coasting, which may cause engine RPMs to drop unexpectedly and the engine to stall while driving.
