The 2017 Volvo S90 has 5 recalls, the most serious being curtain airbags that may not deploy correctly in a crash due to mounting bolts that can break, leaving occupants without side and overhead protection.
Two other recalls also affect crash protection. The front passenger seatbelt buckle can separate from its bracket if the attaching stud loosens, meaning the belt may not hold the passenger in a crash. The air conditioning drain hose can leak water into the cabin, and if enough collects near the airbag system, it can interfere with airbag deployment in a crash. On the electronics side, a software error in the vehicle's connectivity module can cause the telematics system to fail, preventing accurate GPS location from reaching emergency services after a crash or medical event.
