The 2020 Volvo VAH has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a brake pedal that can break free from its mount and become inoperable, leaving the driver without a way to stop the truck.
On the drivetrain side, an auxiliary air tank near the transmission can drop to the road if its mounting strap fails, creating a hazard for other vehicles. A separate electrical issue involves a control unit that processes signals for anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, and collision mitigation — electrical interference can cause that unit to work erratically or stop functioning, reducing the effectiveness of those safety systems. There is also a transmission circuit fuse that can blow and prevent the transmission from shifting gears at all. Rounding out the list, the passenger seatbelt anchor may not have adequate floor reinforcement beneath it, meaning the belt can pull free in a crash and fail to restrain the occupant.
