The 2022 Volvo VAH has 4 recalls, the most serious being a passenger seatbelt anchor that can fail in a crash because the surrounding floor lacks adequate reinforcement, leaving the occupant without proper restraint.
A separate recall affects the Bendix EC80 electronic control unit, which can misread commands or stop functioning due to electrical interference. When this unit fails, several safety systems can lose partial or full function, including anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, automatic traction control, active cruise control, and the collision mitigation system. On the visibility side, the windshield wiper motor's internal gears can wear out prematurely and cause the wipers to stop working, reducing the driver's ability to see clearly in rain or snow. There is also a wheel hub concern: the compression spring behind the hubcap can push the hubcap off the wheel while the truck is moving, sending it into traffic as a road hazard.
