The 2023 Volvo VNL has 2 recalls, the most serious involving an engine idler gear that can detach and stall the truck, raising the risk of a crash. The idler gear is held in place by bracket fasteners that may not have been tightened properly, and if the gear breaks free it can damage the engine and cause a sudden loss of power. The second recall covers the hazard switch backlighting, which can stop working and make the switch hard to find in low-light conditions when a driver needs it quickly.
