The 2024 Volvo VNL has 5 recalls, the most serious involving brakes: the service brakes can take longer than expected to engage, extending stopping distances, and the parking brake may not generate enough holding force on vehicles in weight bias mode, risking a rollaway.
On the lighting side, the automatic high beams may fail to dim for oncoming traffic, reducing their visibility at night. There is also a cargo security concern: load lock clamps on the back of the cab can loosen, allowing load lock bars to shift or fall free and become a road hazard. The remaining recall involves the hazard switch backlight, which can go dark and make the switch difficult to locate in an emergency.
