2020 VOLVO VNL Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2020 Volvo VNL has 8 recalls, the most serious involving two steering defects: loose steering gear fasteners and a steering gear assembly missing internal components, both of which can cause a sudden loss of steering control. The brake system also has a critical issue: the cast metal brake pedal plate can crack and break at its mounting point, causing the pedal to fall away and become inoperable. On the structural side, three separate recalls address sleeper bunk windows that can detach from the vehicle while driving, particularly on 740 and 760 sleeper models and when windows are left open in motion; a detached window can strike other vehicles or pedestrians. A transmission auxiliary air tank strap can fail and drop the tank onto the road, creating a hazard for other drivers. There is also a label compliance issue: the rear axle weight rating printed on the federal certification label exceeds what the wheel hubs can actually handle, and operating at those listed weights can cause the hubs to fail over time.
