The 2025 Volvo VNL has 6 recalls, the most serious involving steering gear teeth that can crack and cause a complete loss of steering control. A separate structural concern involves load lock clamps mounted behind the cab that can fail and release the load lock bars onto the road, creating a hazard for other vehicles. Three recalls cover lighting and instruments: the instrument cluster can go blank while driving, leaving the driver without a speedometer, fuel gauge, or warning lights; automatic high beams can fail to switch down to low, causing glare for oncoming drivers; and a software fault can prevent trailer turn signals from working when towing, leaving other drivers without a clear indication of an intended lane change or turn. There is also a brake concern where the brakes release too slowly after the pedal is lifted, which can reduce control when transitioning out of a stop.
