The 2025 Volvo VNL has 7 recalls, the most serious being a steering gear shaft that can crack or fracture and cause complete loss of steering control.
On the braking side, two separate issues exist: rear brake modulator wiring can short circuit, disabling the anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control, and in some trucks the brakes may release too slowly after the pedal is lifted, which reduces responsiveness when accelerating away from a stop. There is also a structural concern with the load lock clamps mounted behind the cab, which can fail and allow the load lock bars to separate from the truck and become a road hazard for other vehicles. Several electrical and visibility issues round out the list: a software fault can prevent trailer turn signals from working while towing, leaving other drivers without warning of lane changes or turns; the automatic high beams may not dim for oncoming traffic; and the instrument cluster can go blank while driving, taking the speedometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights with it.
