The 2023 Volvo VNR has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the high-voltage battery pack, where a loose or unseated coolant line can cause an electrical short circuit and raise the risk of a fire.
A related battery concern involves internal hardware that may not have been tightened properly, allowing it to loosen and detach inside the pack, which can also cause a short circuit and fire risk. On the active safety side, the adaptive cruise control system on certain trucks can trigger an unexpectedly aggressive braking response under light load conditions, causing the rear axle to skid or the brakes to lock up and potentially leading to a loss of control. The remaining recall covers the windshield wiper motor, whose internal gears can wear prematurely and cause the wipers to stop working, reducing the driver's forward visibility in wet conditions.
