The 2024 Volvo VNR has 7 recalls, with the most serious being two steering failures: a loose fastener connecting the pitman arm and draglink that can cause total loss of steering, and a steering gear shaft with teeth that can crack and fracture, also resulting in loss of steering control.
On electric models, a coolant line in the high-voltage battery pack may not be fully secured, allowing coolant to escape and create an electrical short that raises the risk of fire. The electronic stability control system can also be rendered inactive by a software error, leaving the truck without the system that helps prevent skids and rollovers. Hub covers on the drive axles can come loose and detach while the truck is moving, creating a road hazard for other vehicles. The windshield wiper motor gears can wear out prematurely and stop the wipers from functioning, reducing the driver's forward visibility in rain or snow.
