The 1994 Volvo WX has two recalls, both involving the air brake system, with the more serious being a blocked solenoid exhaust that can keep the rear brakes applied on their own, raising the risk of a crash.
Road contamination can build up between the traction solenoid and its mounting bracket, blocking the exhaust port and trapping air pressure in the rear brake circuit even after the driver releases the pedal. This holds the rear axle brakes in a partially or fully applied state without any input from the driver. The second recall involves the front air suspension control valve, whose supply line was not routed through a pressure protection valve. If that line fails, air pressure drains from the reservoir that feeds the front steer axle brakes, extending stopping distances.
