The 2017 Volvo XC60 has 4 recalls, the most serious being two overlapping issues with the side airbags, where the inflator initiators in the driver and front passenger seats can fail to fire in a crash, leaving those airbags completely undeployed.
The front passenger seatbelt also has a recall covering a mounting stud that can loosen and allow the buckle to separate entirely from the seat bracket. If that happens, the seatbelt cannot hold the passenger in a crash. On the electrical side, a software error in the vehicle's connectivity module can cause the telematics system to report an incorrect GPS location or fail to transmit one at all, which can delay emergency responders from reaching the vehicle after a crash or medical event.
