2016 VOLVO XC90 Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2016 Volvo XC90 has 12 recalls, the most serious being a coolant hose that can crack and leak fluid onto hot exhaust components, creating a fire risk while the vehicle is parked or stationary. Several recalls involve airbags and restraints. Front seat side airbag wiring may have been routed incorrectly during assembly, which can damage the wiring and disable the side airbags in a crash. On seven-seat models, a trim panel near the third-row D-pillar can block the curtain airbag from fully inflating, reducing protection for rear passengers. Second-row seatbelt buckle and anchor bolts may not be properly tightened, meaning the belt may not hold an occupant in a crash. There is also a concern that a leaking air conditioning drain hose can allow moisture to accumulate inside the cabin and affect the airbag system and engine management electronics over time. On the XC90 Excellence trim, a wet rear seat touchscreen can cause the front passenger seat to slide all the way back on its own and stay there, potentially trapping a rear passenger. The sunroof switch on certain vehicles sits close enough to the surface that it can be pressed accidentally, closing the roof panel without warning.
