The 2021 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT has 4 recalls, all engine-related, with the most serious being software issues that can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, leaving the rider without power at speed.
Three of the recalls involve engine control programming. One stems from software that can damage the throttle position sensor, leading to an unstable idle, hesitation, or a sudden stall. The other two cover the same underlying issue: incorrect programming that can stall the engine during a downshift if the clutch lever is not fully pulled in, or when opening the throttle from idle. That same programming fault can also suppress the engine warning light when a component fails, or trigger a false warning and reduce throttle response without explanation. Prior software repair attempts under an earlier recall did not fully resolve the issue, which is why some motorcycles require an additional fix. The fourth recall is mechanical: the throttle grip tube can crack if pulled too hard, causing the throttle to bind or stick rather than rotate freely.
