Defect
On a small number of vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 24S38 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-347) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles, a previous over-the-air (OTA) software update could cause the backup lamps not to turn on when the vehicle is reversing.
Safety Risk
Backup lamps that don't work could cause others not to recognize when a vehicle is backing up, and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the body control module software.
