1975-76 AMC GREMLIN AND HORNET VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH SIX CYLINDER ENGINES AND POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING HOSE MAY BE ROUTED TOO CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THIS COULD CAUSE HEAT DAMAGE TO THE HOSE ALLOWING POWER STEERING FLUID TO BE SPRAYED ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CAUSING SMOKE AND POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.
IF THE ACCELERATOR LINKAGE PRIMARY RETURN SPRING SHOULD BECOME DISCONNECTED, THE SECONDARY THROTTLE RETURN SPRING WILL NOT EXERT SUFFICIENT FORCE TO COMPLETLY CLOSE THE THROTTLE WITH THE TIME LIMITS SPECIFIED BY C.M.V.S.S. 124 - ACCELERATOR CONTROL SYSTEMS. SHOULD THE DEFECT OCCUR THE DRIVER MAY HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND/OR SWITCH OFF THE IGNITION TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT.

THE FATIGUE CRACKS MAY PROPOGATE TO THE EXTENT THAT THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE DOOR LATCH STRIKER ATTACHMENT MAY BE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED CREATING THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE DOOR MAY NOT BE SECURELY RETAINED. VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE HAD THE PITMAN ARM TO STEERING GEAR ATTACHMENT NUT TORQUED CORRECTLY. THE NUTS COULD LOOSEN AND FALL OFF ALLOWING THE PITMAN ARM TO SEPARATE FROM THE STEERING GEAR RESULTING IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND POSSIBLE VEHICLE CRASH.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.3 LITRE ENGINES. THE 2.3 LITRE ENGINE IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE FUEL LEAKAGE AT THE RUBBER HOSE CONNECTING THE FUEL TUBE TO THE CARBURETOR FUEL FILTER. FUEL LEAKAGE WOULD BE ACCOMPANIED BY FUEL ODOURS AND THE POTENTIAL FOR AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.
