THE LEFT SIDE FUEL TANK SUPPORT WHICH RETAINS THE TANK TO THE REAR UNDERBODY IS SUBJECT TO CORROSION FROM ROAD SALT. ADVANCED CORROSION OF THE SUPPORT WILL ALLOW THE FUEL TANK TO TILT DOWN FROM THE UNDERBODY ON THE LEFT SIDE LEAVING THE TANK ATTACHED BY THE RIGHT SIDE MOUNTING ONLY.
UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS, WHERE MODERATE BRAKE STOPS ARE MADE, THE INERTIA LOCK MECHANISM MAY NOT FUNCTION ALLOWING THE SEAT BACK TO FOLD FORWARD, AND THE SEAT TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS COULD CAUSE PERSOANL INJURY BY PINNING THE OCCUPANT BETWEEN THE REAR SEAT AND THE BACK OF THE FRONT SEAT.

DURING VEHICLE USE AN IMPROPERLY RE-INSTALLED BOLT MAY LOOSEN AND EVENTUALLY PULL OUT.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.3 LITRE TURBO ENGINES. iNADEQUATE CONNECTIONS ON THE FUEL SUPPLY LINES AT THE INLET TO THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE AND AT THE CONNECTION OF THE FLEXIBLE SUPPLY LINE TO THE METALLIC FUEL TUBE COULD RESULT IN FUEL LINE SEPARATION. THIS WOULD CAUSE FUEL TO BE PUMPED FROM THE DISENGAGED LINE BY THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, FUEL SPILLAGE COULD PRESENT THE POTENTIAL FOR FIRE.
PROPANE VEHICLES. VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITH IMPROPERLY WELDED FUEL TANK SUPPORT STRAPS. UNDER CERTAIN VEHICLE IMPACT CONDITIONS THE STRAPS MAY NOT ADEQUATELY SUPPORT THE TANK INCREASING THE RISK OF DAMAGE. SHOULD A FUEL LEAK OCCUR A POTENTIAL FOR FIRE WOULD EXIST.
THESE VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE PREMATURE REAR WHEEL SKID WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS APPLIED. THE ABSENCE OF ANY CORRECTIVE STEERING OR BRAKING ACTION ON THE PART OF THE DRIVER COULD CAUSE THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO SKID OUT OF ITS LANE OF TRAVEL.

THE FRONT SUSPENSION ATTACHMENT STUDS USED TO ATTACH THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS TO THE FRONT AXLE AND RADIUS ARMS MAY NOT MEET HARDNESS SPECIFICATIONS. THESE STUDS MAY HAVE BEEN FRACTURED DURING VEHICLE ASSEMBLY OR MAY FRACTURE IN SERVICE RESULTING IN ADVERSLY AFFECTED STEERING CONTROL OR RUPTURE OF A FRONT BRAKE HOSE WITH ASSOCIATED LOSS OF FRONT WHEEL BRAKING.
THE FUEL TANK MOUNTING STRAPS ON THESE VEHICLES ARE SUBJECT TO CORROSION DUE TO ROAD SALT. STRAP FAILURE WOULD CAUSE THE FUEL TANK TO DISENGAGE FROM THE UNDERBODY AND REMAIN ATTACHED ONLY BY ITS PLUMBING CONNECTIONS.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC OVER DRIVE TRANSMISSIONS. THE PARKING PAWL ACTUATING CAM RETAINER PIN ON THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ACTUATING ROD ASSEMBLY MAY HAVE BEEN INCORRECTLY HEAT TREATED. THESE PINS COULD POTENTIALLY FRACTURE IN SERVICE RESULTING IN THE PARKING PAWL NOT ENGAGING THE PARKING GEAR WHEN THE SHIFT SELECTOR IS PLACED IN THE "PARK" POSITION. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT SET, THE VEHICLE COULD ROLL FREE.
THE FELXIBLE FIVE BLADE ENGINE COOLING FAN MAY FATIGUE CRACK AND SEPARATE. FAN BLADE SEPARATION MAY DAMAGE UNDERHOOD COMPONENTS AND, IF THE HOOD IS OPEN, INJURE PERSONS IN THE VICINITY OF THE VEHICLE.
THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECTOR TUBE RETAINING CLIP WHICH RETAINS THE SELECTOR TUBE TO THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK CYLINDER MAY NOT BE OF ADEQUATE HARDNESS. SHOULD THE CLIP LOOSEN AND DISENGAGE FROM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECTOR TUBE ASSEMBLY, THE GEARSHIFT SELECTOR LEVER MAY NOT INDICATE THE ACTUAL GEAR POSITION OF THE TRANSMISSION. FOR EXAMPLE, THE VEHICLE COULD ROLL FREE WHEN THE INDICATOR IS IN THE "PARK" POSITION OR COULD ACTUALLY BE IN DRIVE GEAR WHEN THE INDICATOR IS IN THE "NEUTRAL" POSITION.
VEHICLES WITH 3.8 LITRE ENGINES. VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITH INADEQUATELY WELDED FRONT SEAMS ON THE FUEL TANK. A FUEL LEAK COULD DEVELOP AND IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, PRESENT A POTENTIAL FOR FIRE.
THE REAR BRAKE HOSES WERE NOT FULLY SEATED INTO THEIR FITTINGS WHEN THE FITTINGS WERE CRIMPED ONTO THE HOSE AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE. HOSE FAILURE WOULD CAUSE LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND PARTIAL LOSS OF BRAKING ACTION THEREBY INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE.
POLICE PACKAGE VEHICLES. RIGHT AND LEFT REAR SUSPENSION LOWER CONTROL ARMS MAY HAVE BEEN FABRICATED FROM STEEL WITH A MATERIAL THICKNESS BELOW THE MINIMUM SPECIFICATION. UNDER SEVERE CONDITIONS, STRESSES INDUCED IN THE CONTROL ARMS COULD CAUSE FATIGUE CRACKS WITH POSSIBLE SUBSEQUENT BREAKAGE OF THE CONTROL ARMS. THIS WOULD ALLOW THE REAR AXLE TO SHIFT AND ADVERSELY AFFECT VEHICLE CONTROL.
DUE TO INADEQUATE LUBRICATION THE TRANSMISSION ON THESE VEHICLES MAY BE RENDERED INOPERATIVE AND COULD SEIZE. THIS WOULD CAUSE LOCK-UP AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.
A DIODE IN THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT MAY BE OF INADEQUATE CAPACITY TO WITHSTAND CURRENT DRAW DURING ENGINE STARTING. THIS WOULD CAUSE A SHORT CIRUCIT IN THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY TO THE FUEL PUMP WHICH WOULD RESULT IN NORMAL ENGINE STARTING BUT FUEL WOULD NOT CONTINUE TO BE PROVIDED TO THE ENGINE. VEHICLES WITH THIS CONDITION WOULD STALL WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF OPERATION.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER TO CHASSIS TUBE AND HOSE ASSEMBLIES ARE LOCATED IN A POSITION THAT MAY BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO CHAFING DURING VEHICLE USE. CONTINUED CHAFING MAY CAUSE TUBE OR HOSE WEAR AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID. THIS COULD RESULT IN FULL OR PARTIAL LOSSOF SERVICE BRAKING DEPENDING ON WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH SINGLE OR SPLIT SYSTEM HYDRAULIC BRAKES. 80-81 F0600/700/800 SERIES TRUCKS.
