The 2016 Acura ILX has 7 recalls, the most serious being a driver's frontal airbag inflator that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a serious injury risk to the driver and passengers.
Two drivetrain recalls involve the right axle half-shaft, which can detach from the driveshaft and cut power to the wheels or allow the car to roll even when left in Park. On the brake side, contaminated brake fluid can deform a seal inside the brake master cylinder, causing an internal fluid leak that reduces braking force and extends stopping distances. The fuel system has two concerns as well: the fuel pump can fail and stall the engine while driving, and a deformed fuel tank can cause the fuel level float to stick, making the gauge read higher than the actual fuel level and leaving the driver unaware the tank is nearly empty.
