On the braking side, rear brake caliper pistons may have an insufficient coating that allows gas pockets to form inside the piston material, reducing the force the calipers can apply to the rotors. The result is noticeably longer stopping distances and a higher risk of a crash. This recall applies only to hybrid models. The third recall involves moisture getting into the tailgate lid lights, which can cause both those lights and the taillights to go dark. Without working taillights, the vehicle becomes much harder for other drivers to see at night or in low visibility conditions, raising the risk of a rear-end collision.
