The 2001 Audi A6 has 8 recalls, the most serious being a fuel tank valve that can crack and leak fuel, creating a fire risk if the leak reaches an ignition source.
The cracking issue affects the rollover valve nipple on the fuel tank, where stress from the aluminum ventilation line combines with material aging to open a leak path. This problem spans several engine variants and applies to Quattro and Allroad configurations. On the visibility side, both recalls cover the same wiper issue on Allroad models: under heavy load conditions like ice, snow, or heavy rain, one wiper blade can fall behind the other, causing the blades to tangle and stop moving entirely, leaving the driver with an uncleared windshield. There is also a tire and wheel concern affecting vehicles with the 2.7L engine: the calculated load on the axle with 225/45R17 tires exceeds what that tire size is rated to carry.
