The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the steering gear shaft, which can fracture and disconnect from the steering arm, causing a total loss of steering control.
The remaining two recalls both address the same underlying issue with power-unlatching tailgates: water can get into the electronic gate-release switch, cause a short circuit, and trigger the tailgate to swing open on its own while the truck is parked or in motion. An unexpected opening can dump unsecured cargo onto the road, creating a hazard for other drivers. Note that both tailgate recalls only apply to trucks equipped with the power-unlatching tailgate option.
