The 2017 Chevrolet Trax has 3 recalls, the most serious being a front lower control arm that can break and cause a front wheel to angle outward, making the vehicle difficult to steer and raising the risk of a crash.
A weld in one or both front lower control arms can fail and allow the arm to partially separate from the vehicle. When this happens, the attached wheel can toe outward, pulling the vehicle off course and reducing steering control. On the safety equipment side, the front airbags and seatbelt pretensioners may fail to deploy in a crash, leaving the driver and front passenger without the full protection those systems are designed to provide.
