The 2004 Ford E-150 has 5 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: an air filter element that can ignite under the hood, and an ABS module with an electrical short that can overheat and produce smoke or fire.
The remaining recalls affect vehicles with aftermarket adaptive equipment and may not apply to all E-150s. On certain vans equipped with VMI/Ricon 6-way power seat bases, a weld on the seat's pivot pin can fail and allow the seat to give way under an occupant. Two related recalls cover vans fitted with Ricon platform-style wheelchair lifts, where the lift can move or begin to stow on its own without being commanded to do so, putting the lift occupant at risk of injury.
