The 2006 Ford E-150 has 5 recalls, all involving wheelchair lift and adaptive mobility equipment that can injure passengers who depend on them.
All five recalls center on aftermarket modifications to this van. Three involve Ricon-brand wheelchair lift platforms: cracked side plates can cause the platform to separate and drop against the vehicle's door opening, and bearings that shift out of position can allow the stowed platform to move excessively and fail at its mounting point. A separate lift issue involves an anti-stow interlock that may not detect a wheelchair or mobility aid user on the platform, allowing the lift to move while someone is on it. There is also a power seat recall affecting vans fitted with a VMI/Ricon six-way power seat base, where a faulty weld on the pivot pin can break and cause the seat to give way under the occupant.
