The 2007 Ford E-150 has 4 recalls, all involving adaptive mobility equipment installed on converted vans, with the most serious risks affecting wheelchair lift platforms that can structurally fail and separate during use.
All four recalls are specific to vehicles that have been modified with aftermarket mobility equipment. Three involve Ricon wheelchair lifts installed by different converters: cracked side plates can cause the lift platform to separate and drop against the door opening, and separately, bearings that shift out of position can allow the stowed platform to move excessively until its mounting fails. A third lift recall covers Braun NCL-2 and NVL-2 models where the roll stop latch on the outer barrier can bend or fall out of alignment over time, allowing a wheelchair to roll past it. There is also a seat recall affecting vans equipped with a VMI/Ricon six-way power seat base, where a faulty weld on the pivot pin can break and cause the seat to give way under an occupant.
