The 2006 Ford E-350 has 13 recalls, the most serious involving a fire risk in certain paratransit vans where a fuse holder in the air conditioning evaporator unit can arc, melt, and ignite.
A separate recall affects certain electronic news gathering vehicles built on this chassis: an aftermarket rear anti-sway bar can damage the rear hydraulic brake lines, causing brake pressure loss and reducing the driver's ability to stop the vehicle.
The remaining recalls all involve wheelchair lift and mobility equipment across various upfitters. Several Ricon platform lift installations may allow the lift to stow unexpectedly while someone is on it, which can injure the occupant. On certain Ricon models, the lift platform's side plates can crack or the platform mounting can fail, causing the platform to separate and fall against the lift door. Roll stop latches on some Braun lifts can bend or misalign over time, allowing a wheelchair to roll past the barrier. A separate lift recall covers an armored pendant cable that can contact an electrical lug and cause a short circuit if the protective cover is missing or improperly installed. Because many of these lift recalls stem from different upfitters installing similar Ricon equipment, the specific recall that applies depends on who modified the vehicle.
