The 2007 Ford E-350 has 16 recalls, the most serious being brake and fire risks: rear hydraulic brake lines on certain converted vans can be damaged and lose pressure, and a fuse holder in an aftermarket air conditioning unit can arc, melt, and catch fire.
A third high-severity recall affects vans equipped with certain wheelchair lift pendant cables, where the cable can contact an electrical lug and cause a short circuit. The remaining 13 recalls all involve wheelchair lift equipment across several different conversion companies. These share a common set of concerns: lift platforms that can overrun the vehicle floor and tilt at an angle steep enough to tip a wheelchair occupant or cause a standing passenger to fall; restraint belts that can allow the lift to move before the belt is properly buckled; anti-stow interlocks that may fail to detect a person on the platform, allowing the lift to fold while occupied; roll stop latches that can bend or misalign and allow a wheelchair to ride over the barrier; and platform side plates or mounting bearings that can crack or shift out of position, causing the platform to separate and drop against the lift door.
