The 2010 Ford E-450 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving wheelchair lift failures that can allow a wheelchair occupant to roll off the platform or cause the lift platform itself to separate and drop against the vehicle door.
All four recalls affect specialty-modified vehicles rather than the base E-450. Three recalls cover wheelchair lift equipment: on certain Braun-equipped lifts, the roll stop latches on the outer barrier can bend or misalign over time, leaving a wheelchair insufficiently blocked from rolling off the edge. On vehicles equipped with certain Ricon lift models, the platform side plates can crack and cause the platform to detach and fall against the lift door opening. The fourth recall applies to E-450 ambulances built by VCI Emergency Vehicle Specialists and equipped with ASA Electronics Voyager backup camera monitors. The monitor can display a mirrored or disorienting image, causing the driver to steer in the wrong direction when reversing.
