The 2008 Ford Edge has 5 recalls, the most serious being front airbag inflators on both the driver and passenger sides that can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
The airbag inflator concern covers both seating positions and stems from propellant that degrades over time when exposed to heat and humidity. These recalls are geographic in scope, with different filings covering vehicles registered in high-humidity regions and others covering broader areas. The fuel system recall is also serious: the fuel tank assembly can develop a leak, and if fuel contacts an ignition source, a fire can result. That recall applies only to vehicles originally sold or currently registered in certain northern and midwestern states.
