1993 FORD EXPLORER Recalls — Canada & USA

The 1993 Ford Explorer has 3 recalls, the most serious being a power mirror switch that can short circuit and start a fire in the driver's door, including while the vehicle is unattended. The other two recalls describe the same liftgate issue: the hydraulic lift cylinders are mounted to brackets welded to the rear liftgate, and those welds can fracture. Over time, the bracket bends inward until the lift cylinder disengages, causing the liftgate to drop suddenly on anyone standing behind the vehicle.
