The 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty has 7 recalls, the most serious including a missing fuel tank bracket that can allow the tank to drop and leak, driveshaft failures that can cut drive power or allow a parked truck to roll, and a post-crash fire risk from seatbelt pretensioner deployment igniting carpet.
The two driveshaft concerns share similar consequences but stem from different causes: on certain 4x4 models with specific wheelbase and axle ratio configurations, a shifting internal damper can cause vibration that eventually breaks the shaft, while on other trucks, loose underbody insulation can contact and damage the shaft. In both cases a broken driveshaft can also drag on the ground, and a truck left in Park without the parking brake engaged can roll. On the restraint side, there is also a compliance concern on certain vehicles with a front passenger manual seat track that may not meet Canadian seat and seatbelt anchorage standards. The rearview camera lens coating on trucks equipped with the 360-degree camera system can degrade over time, producing a foggy image that reduces rear visibility while backing. The electric tailgate latch can also malfunction and release on its own while driving, allowing unsecured cargo to fall into traffic.
