Summary
The Ford Mustang Mach-E has 12 recalls covering the 2021 through 2025 model years, with the most serious being a high-voltage battery contactor issue on 2021 models where the contactors can overheat and cut power to the wheels without warning, raising the risk of a crash.
The 2025 model year has two recalls of its own. On 2025 vehicles, a damaged transmission park rod can allow the vehicle to roll when shifted into park if the parking brake is not applied. Separately, a failing LED driver module in the headlight assembly can knock out the high and low beams, parking lights, daytime running lights, and turn signals all at once, reducing how well the driver can see and how visible the vehicle is to others.
The 2022 model year has one recall involving the right-rear halfshaft, which can fail and cause a loss of drive power to the rear wheels. If the car is then parked without the parking brake engaged, it can roll away.
The 2021 model year carries the heaviest recall load. Beyond the high-voltage contactor issue noted above, a wrong over-the-air software update sent to the anti-lock braking system can disable power brake assist, requiring significantly harder pedal force to stop and lengthening stopping distances; it can also disable the anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, hill start assist, and automatic emergency braking together. On 2021 vehicles, the windshield may not be properly bonded to the body and can separate in a crash. The panoramic roof glass panel on the same model year can also loosen over time and detach while driving, becoming a road hazard. Rear seat belt buckles on 2021 models can pull free from their floor anchors in a crash, leaving rear occupants unrestrained at the moment they need the belt most. There is also an electronic door latch issue on 2021 vehicles where the latches can stay locked after occupants leave, preventing doors from being opened from outside and potentially trapping anyone unable to use the interior handle.
