The 2007 Ford Mustang has 5 recalls, the most serious being a Takata airbag defect affecting both the driver and passenger frontal airbags, where the inflator can rupture in a crash and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
Both the driver and passenger side airbag inflators are affected. The driver-side inflator is susceptible to moisture intrusion over time, which can cause it to rupture violently during deployment. The passenger-side issue follows the same pattern and is particularly associated with vehicles registered in high-humidity states and territories, though prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue across all affected vehicles. Owners in humid climates should be aware this defect has been the subject of multiple repair campaigns.
There is also a suspension recall affecting vehicles fitted with certain aftermarket Eibach front struts. A bracket on these struts can break and contact the tire, damaging the sidewall in a way that can lead to a crash.
