The 2014 Ford Transit has 3 recalls, all affecting vehicles that have been modified with aftermarket equipment, with the most serious risk being seats or mobility hardware that can fail to hold an occupant securely in a crash or sudden stop.
Two recalls involve Freedman Go-ES Foldaway seats installed by aftermarket converters: when the seat cushion is rotated from its stowed position to the upright position, it may not lock in place, and in a crash or hard stop the seat back can move and leave the occupant without proper support. A third recall affects vehicles fitted with Ricon S-Series or K-Series wheelchair lifts, where a positioning component in the lift mechanism can fail and allow the platform to rise above the vehicle floor height, causing a wheelchair user to tip inward toward the vehicle when trying to exit.
