The 2009 GMC Acadia has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a transmission shift cable clip that may not fully engage, meaning the transmission can remain out of park even after the driver moves the shifter to park and removes the key, leaving the vehicle free to roll.
Two recalls address seatbelt integrity. In the second and third rows, certain seat belt buckles were assembled without a rivet, which can allow the buckle to pull free from its mounting strap in a crash. At the front outboard seats, the steel cable anchoring the seatbelt to the vehicle structure can fatigue and separate over time, also reducing restraint in a crash. The liftgate on certain vehicles can lose its ability to hold itself open and drop unexpectedly, posing a risk of striking anyone standing beneath it.
