The 2006 GMC Envoy has 3 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk tied to the driver's door power window switch, which can short-circuit and catch fire even while the vehicle is parked and unattended.
Fluid can work its way into the driver's door window switch module, where it causes corrosion on the circuit board. That corrosion can produce an electrical short capable of starting a fire whether or not the vehicle is running, meaning the risk is present in a garage or driveway overnight. The third recall covers the headlights, which can fail to illuminate fully or at all. When the headlamps go dark, the driver loses visibility of the road ahead, and oncoming drivers lose sight of the vehicle, raising the risk of a crash in low-light conditions.
