The 2010 GMC Savana has 5 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: a voltage regulator fault in vehicles with a 145-amp alternator that can overheat and ignite an engine compartment fire, and corroding wiring in the optional rear HVAC blower motor circuit on cutaway models that can also catch fire.
On the safety equipment side, the airbag system may not deploy in lower-speed crashes, leaving an unbelted front passenger with less protection than expected. There is also a recall covering certain fire extinguishers included with the vehicle: the extinguisher may fail to discharge properly, which reduces its usefulness if a fire actually breaks out.
